Brainfood, What They Read

Bookies Unite! My first month using BOTM.

I don’t know about you -- but I love the smell of a new book! When I moved to San Francisco from Utah, I packed everything that could fit into the bed of a pick-up truck. From considering important items like clothing and pots and pans, unfortunately a vast majority of my book collection had to be left behind. Since I’ve moved to the city, I’ve worked very hard to build back up my library, but it’s always been lacking. This is why I was so excited to try Book of the Month.

As you’re likely familiar with Birchbox or IPSY, Book of the Month has the same concept. For $15 a month, you head to their website and select a book from their selection. Each monthly selection includes five books from a broad range of genres, including a mix of both fiction and nonfiction. Once you select your book, you can pass the time by reading another as you wait for yours to arrive. After ordering, it took about two weeks for my book to arrive.

If you’re wondering, I chose the The Blinds from the August selection. I haven’t had a chance to start it, but given it’s a western thriller / mystery, it’s right up my ally. If you do decide to give BOTM a try, let’s get coffee and chat books!

Thanks for the photo, Shaq and Jon!
