What We Learned in 2021

2020 was a wild ride, and we went into 2021 wishing for peace, happiness, new experiences, and for many of us, the ability to return to the office. While this year kept us on our toes, we were grateful to enjoy many of the things we loved again—including being together in person on both coasts! While looking back on 2021, we also took a moment to reflect on a few of the most valuable lessons we learned.

How to be more patient

“2021 taught me how to slow down—and be more patient! I tend to want to power through, find ways to do things more quickly or efficiently, and move on to the next thing. This year was all about slowing down, going deeper on the things I’m already doing, and staying the course to achieve different results. I’m looking forward to continuing with this approach across all realms of my life next year, from exploring my new city and connecting in more meaningful ways with people I care about to evolving in my work.”  —Krista

What it means to be grateful

“This past year I learned that even through all the confusion and frustration, there’s still an abundance of beauty in this world and plenty of moments to be grateful for. I’ve learned to carry on, and only focus on me, those I love and the things that I can control.” —Carrie

How to embrace change

“2021 taught me to trust my instincts and be open to new changes! This year, I’ve had quite a few milestones and life changes, like being able to finally attend my college graduation, moving into my first apartment, and making a career change. Throughout these experiences, I’ve found that even though change is scary at first, not following your passions and remaining complacent is scarier. By embracing change and following my passion, I now work in an industry with some awesome, trailblazing brands alongside vibrant and supportive teammates!” —Michelle

The importance of being present

“This past year reinforced for me just how fragile life is. In these times, it’s a lesson that many of us are learning or relearning, unfortunately. For me, it’s a reminder to live every moment in the present—spending my time and energy wisely, focusing on the people I love and the work that brings my joy and energy. I plan to carry all of these reminders into 2022.” —Megan
